Lavender care question

I just purchased a tiny box of lavender for cooking at Wholefoods. It was expensive.I have a large pot of lavender growing outside of my bedroom and am wondering if I could use my dehydrator to make my own dried lavender. Is there a special kind of lavender for cooking?

I don't think there is, but I would use English Lavender..........

Beautiful plants, Marylou! There is a difference, but I understand it's not significant. I'd say go for it! ;)
You won't need a dehydrator. When the tips are at least 2/3 open with bloom, simply pick. Hanag up side down to dry. After a week, take the dried flowers and place them in a clean paper bag. Shake it around. The dried lavendar will fall off the stems. Keep in a jar until use.
Just cut and hang upside down to dry - it is great stuff!

Based on the above comments, the only caveat I can think of is the possibility of drift from anything you might have sprayed on nearby plants/lawn/trees, etc.
