    Hi Kimspouse,

If you're going to use vinegar, it works faster if you get the industrial type. You should be able to find it at a hardware store. You can use cooking vinegar, however the results usually take longer. There is also another "recipe" that has good reviews. This one adds Epsom salts to the mixture. Epsom salt is good for the soil so should help plants or grass that you are already growing. Click on the link below for that recipe. Wishing you the best.

Industrial vinegar has 20% acetic acid. White vinegar only has 5% acetic acid. Therefore industrial vinegar is stronger - especially for a weed killer.

1 quart of white vinegar, 1/8 to 1/4 cup of salt and a small squirt of Dawn will kill weeds....just remember not to apply to anything you want to keep growing. This can be mixed up and applied with a garden sprayer or just a plastic bottle. Just double or triple the amounts.

Do not spray in or too close to anything that you want to keep, like grass or other plants in a garden. The vinegar that reaches the soil will take out a lot of the nutrients. If you are going to use it in a garden, I would rough up the big weed leaves and paint it on and it will not come into contact with other plants.

Recipe: 1 gallon white vinegar, 2 cups Epsom salts, 1/3 cup Dawn soap (blue). Apply early in the morning after the dew is evaporated and by evening they will be dead. Caution: it will kill any plant so be careful not to get it on plants you want to keep.

For a healthy supply of this man-made concoction, mix a gallon of white vinegar, one cup of salt, and one tablespoon of dish soap. Make sure it is properly stirred, then put the mixture in a spray bottle for easy use. You can stash the bottle in your house for repeated use.
