Check the bottom of your door, it may have a sliding lock. We thought our door in a new house were installed backwards, but they were designed for inside screens and had a second special lock.

If this is rental then look into those options if not just have it turned around professionally. The door was probably order incorrectly and installed anyway. But for your safety have it turned around.

At the base in the center where the two doors overlap, drill a hole that goes through both doors, but does not to through to the outside. into it place a 10-penny nail. Repeat the process about 4-5 inches above the first one and into it place another 10-penny nail. If you only put in one, it is partially secured, but it can rotate a bit allowing for the top to open slightly. With 2 in place, it will not open unless both nails are removed.

Drill a hole in the top, place a long thick nail on a small length of chain mounted on interior top jamb or above. When you need to secure just slide the nail into the hole. For extra security you can do both top and bottom.

Very late here but hopefully you guys get notified if theres a comment. If you drill a hole yourself through the metal frame on the doors, how do you ensure you dont hit glass?? It looks like there is supposed to be a hole in the top of ours for a pin to go in but cant find it on the door behind the frame - rendering this pin useless.

be VERY careful drilling that you are NOT going to this the glass. If you do it is game over, the safety glass will crackle into a thousand pieced. Yes I know from experience.

    Hi Kim,

What is the door made from. Call in a Carpenter to fix you a lock and key, or a bolt or HOOKS AND EYE FASTENERS. Maybe have the door reversed or replaced! If you have a Landlord, Inform him it is not safe and needs attention!
