Mandevilla Springs to Life | A Great Mothers Day Gift!

Mandevilla gives an elegant lush tropical look to your garden. It has stunning trumpet-shape flowers in shades of pink, white, or red. Mandevilla is usually grown as an annual, though I overwintered it indoors in my heated garage. Like my lantana I thought it did not survive since it is grown as a perennial only in zone 10. Zone 6 Mandevilla New Growth Yesterday
After the harsh winter many plants are very late in their reemergence this spring. I am surprised and delighted since Mandevilla is a tropical to see it is springing back to life.
This is Lantana Sun Parasol Spring Back
This is the the same hanging basket that you see featured above of Sun Parasol Mandevilla. Mandevilla gives elegance and charm to every garden and I think it makes a lovely gift. Happy Mothers Day :)

i planted my tropical mandevilla last summer. it was so beautiful, it grew a lot and wrapped around my fence. It was so beautiful. i mulched, pruned a bit, but left it in the ground. It has clay like color stems and some are greyish. i don't know if it's dead or dormant.

    • Brandy,

Mandevilla are only able to survive in the ground in tropical climate zone 9 otherwise they must be a container plant, I bring mine in the house for the winter, but you can wait a bit to see if it turns green otherwise I think you will have to replace it. You can put it in a container to bring in or just know if you plant and aren’t in a tropical climate it probably won’t survive. I’m sorry. I know how beautiful it was.

I live in Fort Worth now, having lived in Houston for 9 years. My mandevilla was on my patio year round and came back every year. If there was going to be a hard freeze I covered it with a blanket to protect it as it is a tropical plant. Hope this helps!
