Hello! I am a huge fan of the peacock bird and my livingroom theme and outside decor is laced in peacocks. I purchased a spoon ladle and tray from the dollar store and wanted to make a wall sconce out of it. When I flipped the spoon around, I seen a peacock! And, a swan! I even see a flamingo! Here is a few designs I came up with starting with two dollars from the local dollar store. Who said you cant craft with cheap items? lets get started.
I painted the ladle and tray. One set in mirrored gold, one in pink, one in purple, and this one in blue. All the same concept, just different colors and names on the pieces.
Here I am spray painting in mirror gold. I did the painting the day before. I allowed the paint to dry over night. I buy paint at Walmarts, and Ace Hardware.
I use 'card stock' and poster board to draw out patterns. I used glitter card stock I buy the package of multi colors from Walmarts. I used purple, blue, green, gold, silver and pink card stock. I hand drawn 'feathers. When I started to apply the feathers, I glue them down first, then, rotated, card stock feathers. The idea is the card stock will bond the real feathers to the tray. The tray being acrylic-has a better chance of lifetime wear rotating between the materials while gluing. I used hotglue in clear.
The feathers are actually a feathered FAN I buy on wish or aliexpress in bulk. Then, I break them apart. I glue the feathers first, then card stock-then feathers-then card stock. You get the idea...
Feathers first- (here is the pink design)
Then card stock (in silver here). Try to use something that is heavy to press while glue hardens. I also used a heart cut out of old pink velvet material in this piece. But the idea is to layer and rotate the materials. Hotglue bonds better this way for me.
It is easier to design the ladle before gluing to the tray. Here, I am usiing rhinestones I purchased from JoAnns when on sale.
The back side is usually done first after painting the tray and before gluing the ladle. Use a piece of cardboard or card stock. Cut a square-glue it to the back. Poke a hole. I am leaving the other two square opened because I am waiting to buy DT fairy lights. I will add them to the back once I get a bulk of them.
On the back of the golden swan I made, I used a left over placemat, cut it, glued it and poked a hole. All these piece's I created, is very lightweight. Here is the final projects and all the designs I came up with to date May 6, 2018. See my videos on Youtube for precise instructions-thank you everyone.
I used left over pendants from my scarves I used to wear. I used necklaces that I broke and added them for bling. Flowers from DollarTree, rhinestone mesh from Dollar Tree, and feathered fans online at Wish or Ebay or Aliexpress. I plan on a red design idea soon. Subscribe to my channel and watch for it. Bless!!!
