This bathroom is really small too! I'm talking coffin small! If you're in there and sneeze, you'll probably bang your head on the wall.

I live in Japan and small bathrooms are the norm. I get it too! Just get in and get out...unless you're in my house and you'll get in, but get stuck trying to get out. Too many jokes?

I remodeled my downstairs restroom of equal itty-bitty-ness and you can check out the post here:

The before! This is after I pulled out all of the wallpaper, skim coated and painting with navy blue milk paint.

I know it's dark, but we're going for dark.
The after! Totally bananas, right!

I said bye-bye to the single weird uncentered light bulb and made a pine and porcelain bulb holder board for across the ceiling.

Ewwww popcorn ceiling! That's actually wallpaper. I'm about to say something that will make no sense to anybody anywhere...I like popcorn ceilings! Yes, I said it!
I have a thing for stripes and this is a kind of thing that my wife doesn't have. This ceiling is epically slanted, so I thought stripes would make it look cool.
I used Jacobean Briwax for the pine and bought 2watt LED bulbs from Ikea.

I scratched up the pine wood before waxing it to give it a beat up distressed look.

Most difficult picture to take!
Second most difficult picture to take!
I like making my molding and trim out of old pieces of wood. The only con is imperfections in the wood, but I like that kind of look.

This is the ceiling molding and I made it look bigger by using painters tape and painting directly on the wall. The white line on the bottom is painted on the wall....could you totally tell?
Here's a corner in progress. I always have trouble with paint getting under the tape.
Yes, those are pipe lights!

    Is it still not centered?

I realize this post is over 3 1/2 years old, but I’m just seeing it for the first time… the striped popcorn ceiling… did you just tape off the popcorn into stripes and paint? The edges of the stripes look super crisp!
