I put decorative rock in my front yard and that black paper that you lay down before putting the rocks on top didn't work how to control the weeds

  • Chances are the landscape cloth did work. You need to learn that "weeds" are spread by wind, wildlife and people. They will settle into any nook and cranny and start to grow. These have lodged themselves on top of whatever you installed and easy to pluck out. Another option is to pour boiling water on them, spritz with vinegar, let die then pull out. I spend a few minutes every day pulling weeds so I do not need to spend hours doing it on a Saturday morning.

There is a landscape cloth and a weed barrier cloth that is actually thicker. Pull grass and weeds then put Preen down and lightly water.

Try putting Black Polythene in it's place! problem solved, we couldn't control or kill creeping Ivy here se we encased it in Black Polythene, unwrapped it 12 months later, one very dead Ivy plant/bush, a couple of weeks in the Sun and it disintegrated. Black Polythene is a wonderful tool!

An old thick carpet will do the same trick. I used one and I got 3 years out of it weed free.
