I have been stenciling for many years, but stencils have come such a long way. Both in stencil designs and also in the quality of product. Gone are the days when paint would bleed under the stencil. Stencils now are laser cut to give you some of the cleanest cuts out there. They are totally reusable and can be washed easily. I just used a new angel stencil and added a fun raised effect. Let me show you how!
This stencil is gorgeous to start, but adding detail to the wings and body really stepped it up. I used all DecoArt Metallic Paints which you can find here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M196FXG/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B01M196FXG&linkCode=as2&tag=ourc0a-20&linkId=ff65efd2d48a0194857bbb06e0e12f05
I painted the canvas first in oyster beige, then covered the entire stencil with the spackle that I bought at The Dollar Store.
Remove the stencil but let the spackle harden overnight. Then you can paint it whatever colors you like. I used gold metallic on the wings and a pearl metallic on the angel. I added glitter while the paint was wet for a little sparkle. Everything is better with sparkle right?
At the end I painted blue paint around the sides. It made the angel really stand out. I have collected angel wings for many years. They are very comforting to me. I hope you enjoy this post.
