About all you can do is spray for them. Be sure and spray the underside of exposed wood too! Google "how do you get rid of carpenter ants" and you will find many products.

    Our exterminator uses Diatomacious earth.

Removed all the rotten wood that these ants feed on. Once you have removed the food source the ants will leave. This is nature's way of dealing with rot and decay. Without pesticides.

It has been a very long time but we had carpenter ants in our house and I read somewhere (at that time) to use coffee grounds around the house. It didn't specify fresh or used and who is going to waste coffee on ants? lol I collected used coffee grounds and sprinkled them all around the foundation. It seemed to work, after a week or so they were gone and no new ones came in.

My suggestion would be to consult an exterminator to get rid of any that you have inside now (they are very destructive), clean up any rotten wood that may be lying around and start collecting used coffee grounds. Sprinkle it around the foundation to keep any new ones from coming in. Good luck!

Starbucks give away their used coffee grounds; people use them in their gardens in the spring. You can call ahead and ask the manager to set aside some for you.
