I am a senior now living alone in my small house on 2 acres. The maintainence on this property and house are eating me alive. How do I find a reliable handyman that isn't a serial killer?

Get recommendations from neighbors or local Better Business Bureau.. There's a new PC application I just signed up here where live and localized to my specific area called Nextdoor.com & there are locals recommending others or specific professionals on saying I live in the area.. even wives recommending their spouse as in "my husband is a master plumber". Do you attend a church, or have several in your town? You might ask the church office if they have a list of people who do handyman work for congregants. Also, if your town has a senior citizen office or club, you might inquire there.

Check with your local senior center. They sometimes have older gentlemen (in good shape) looking to pick up extra jobs to supplement their income. Some centers keep a roster of seniors looking for extra work. My office hired a part time runner one time this way. He was great, we loved him.
