DIY Topiaries!

Topiaries these days are so expensive in the stores. I wanted a few so decided to make my own. It was so simple, I bet you'll want to make your own!
I saw these whimsical greenery stems at my local craft store and thought they'd be perfect for the look I was going for. The sticks I cut from my own back yard! I think I love that part the most.
Here are the supplies you'll need. The base is important. Depending on how tall you want to make your topiary, the base should be sturdy because it can be top heavy.
The messy part is cutting the floral foam to fit inside the base. When you put the sticks in, don't wiggle them around making the whole bigger. You want it to be as tight as possible. If it gets loose, stuff some of the extra floral foam down into the whole to make it stiff.
After stuffing the sticks in, you'll wrap the greenery stems to the top of the sticks with floral tape to hold it all together. The tape is brown to mimic the stems and so it would look more natural. But they sell green tape too if that suits you better or if you already have some.
You can find the rest of the instructions on my blog. I really love these and they were way less than half of the cost in the store. Plus, I can make them the height I need!

Yes, these topiaries are so expensive. I love the way you made yours, and I made some last year myself. I was going to change them out with the seasons, but they're so pretty I've kept them up for over a year now. I'm going to go check your blog!!
