Is it safe to plant wallerina impatiens in 2014?

Are problems with downy mildew expected?

I don't think anyone has given an "all clear" for planting Impatiens walleriana. Downy mildew is still around, and probably will be for the foreseeable future. See this 2014 update from the trade magazine "Greenhouse Grower": http://www.greenhousegrower.com/crop-inputs/impatiens-walleriana-makes-possible-comeback-in-2014-season/

Thanks Douglas. I saw double impatiens at the green house yesterday but not the singles.
  • Lowe's has been getting in 6 paks of impatiens and they fly out the door here in my area of VA. A well known and expensive greenhouse here is also been selling out fast too and they only get single paks in. I would try Lowe's if you have one near since they are corporate and order on a large scale for all stores. good luck! PS so far I have had some in and for clients with no issues and it has been 2 weeks.Plus I change out the soil and make sure it is fresh potting soil (even though for other plants I just mix old with new).
