I'm buying a house with a family room that's full of wood panels and I am afraid of paintig them white and ruining them.

You could try the rolls of wall pops. They have so many styles and there's no glue like wall paper

It won’t ruin them just make sure that it fits with your decor style

    Hi Samantha,

I painted some in one room in my home and wallpapered some in another room. When I painted I scuffed it up and used a primer for the first coat, then applied the paint. With the wallpaper one, I filled in the grooves with drywall compound, let it dry and sanded it smooth, then applied the wallpaper. Both walls turned out great and have lasted a long time. Wishing you the best.

I'm sorry Samantha, I don't have any pics. I did this over 25 years ago. It's still there, but I'm in the process of taking it off and painting that wall. Still, for 20 years or so it lasted well. The one place that I had a small issue after 20 years, was where the heat vent came into the room. The prepasted wallpaper I used came a little loose in that area, so if I were to do it again, I'd pay extra attention to that area and add some actual wallpaper paste.

My Mil had hers painted, they lightly sanded them, primed them well and painted them a very light mint green, they turned out beautiful. The room was so dark before and now it is bright and pretty.

Basically the same as the other. I have cleaned, lightly sanded, primed and painted. They will look nice when done.

Start by painting just one wall as an accent. See how you like it. Sometimes I think all painted is too much white so painting some might be just right
