What’ the best way to make a bed skirt to stay put?

I’m in a wheelchair, so changing my bedding is difficult (to say the least.) Unfortunately my mat has to be spun weekly for health reasons, but I still want the look of & style of a bed skirt on my bed. Sadly whenever spinning the mattress the bed skirt wil: twis, turn, contort, and all out rip apart, because it is so incredibly difficult to keep it in place for one person. Does anyone have any idea how to attach a bed skirt or make one that will actually STAY in place or make it easier to change while changing bedding/switching the mattress?

try youtube for step by step instructions - is there a friend or family member who could come over and do this for you for a couple of dollars?

That’s just the problem, we moved here from another state, and sadly we have no family to help (and no friends either.) We were also led to believe by the headhunter who contacted my husband regarding the job that ALL of my benefits (state benefits: dail nurses aid, state assistance, etc,) would transfer with “No problem whatsoever! Easy, takes only a phone call.”

HA!!!! That was a joke, (on us.) We were the laughing stock of the city AND state agencies.

      But I appreciate you responding.

Neither mattress is air/water filled. When I showed my husband the picture of the product, the next day he woke up and went directly to our local BB&B. Thankfully they had one box of them left! 🙌🏻 He came home and lifted all around the edges of the mattress and attached them to the bed skirt. So we are hopeful that next week come time to spin/change the bedding, things will go smoothly. S fingers crossed 🤞

Either attach the skirt to the foundation/box springs (staples or tacks) or maybe tying ribbon, twin, string, etc around the skirt in the middle of the foundation/box spring but high enough not to be seen. Or you could try putting a silky bottom sheet on the bottom of the mattress (upside down).

That’s a BRILLIANT idea!!!! Sadly the bedskirt material that lays out on the box spring itself is already “silky“. So it slides around like greased monkey poop on a linoleum floor, LOL!!! (Hence my husband potty mouth, frustration and all out reasons of wanting to rid my bed of it altogether.)

If the bed pins do not work, then attaching to the box spring sounds like the best way to go. (Having MS brain = massive brain farts, DAILY. LOL!!!) So trying to think of ideas was actually almost painful. Thank You, you have made our lives a LOT easier.

I am sure it is just the mattress that you move weekly, not the box spring. I would attach Velcro to the box spring and cut away what was on top of the box spring and put Velcro on the bed skirt and put it on the box spring. This would allow you to move the mattress without touching the bed skirt.

As long as you take out the equation of having the fabric between the mattresses, any way you want to secure it will probably work out really well for you. Good luck on your project!

Go to a fabric store or amazon get bed skirt pins. works like a charm. Do not use straight pins. I tried does not work.

They are bed skirts that don't go under the mattress - they have elastic on them. I have switched to putting a colorful fitted sheet on the box spring and eliminated the bed skirt.

Maybe get couple packs of Velcro n attach all around!?

I hope it works out for you. I understand your distress, I have had 2 back surgeries and and trying to avoid a 3rd (one just seems to lead to another) so making the bed is a real chore for me also.

Someone mentioned getting a rubber pad made to stop rugs from sliding. Cut 12" squares of it and place them on the mattress and under the bed skirt at the corners. Seems the cheapest, easiest way to go with no damages to the mattress. You also might try the rubber shelf liner made for kitchen cabinets.
