Take clean, sharp shovel dig and cut them. https://www.hostasdirect.com/learn/dividing-hostas/#Dividing_Hostas
Everyone has to start at the beginning. Gardening is a great way to ease stress and to see improvement. Iโm not easy on Hostas and they survive me.
Best experience and educational advice I can give a new gardener is to have your soil checked out through your agricultural extension office. From there, the results will tell you what your soil needs to be healthy.
Best books Iโve ever read on gardening is Ruth Stout and Joel Karsten (straw bale gardening) good luck!
I just dig the whole hosta out of the ground, then take a long sharp serrated knife and cut them into sections and put them in 1gallon pots and sell them. I also have several large pots filled with them at the bottom of my steps on each side. They die out in the winter and come back every spring. You canโt hardly kill them. Only thing is they do not like direct hot sun all day.
Beginner! You casm to the right place. Hosta's grow from tubers similar to bulbs. You can dig the whole clump out. Split it up into smaller clumps and plant them anywhere you want. You give some away to friends.
