Glue boards together or purchase a pre-glued panel at your lumber yard if they have one in the size you need. Put it on top of the table and find a way to attach to your base. How? I'd have to see the table. Could also lay a piece of plywood on top but it would look less nice. Not sure what advice I can give for the question that you asked.
