While trying to remove our burnt out light bulb in our yard light fixture, the bulb broke and is still in the socket. How do we remove this without getting cut?

Turn the power off, cut a potato in half and shove it onto the broken light. Then righty tighty, lefty loosy!
I have used needle nosed pliers to grasp the edge of the light bulb. But, be certain the power is off when you do anything!

Disconnect lamp and I use needle nose pliers to grab and edge to twist. I have heard a cut edge of a potato rammed into broken bulb base (glass removed) can allow you to twist it out. Hope this helps.
It has been suggested that you use a potato.
Can also use a bar of soap, but I use pliers inside the socket pressing outward and twisting. Just make sure you unplug the lamp or shut off the power to the fixture at the electrical box.
