My friend Michelle is getting her mother's room ready for a visit. She loves owls, so Michelle wanted to make an old dresser new with an owl twist.
First she painted an old dresser that was in good condition to make it look new. It took two coats. Then the fun began.
She drew on and painted the drawers with a tree and owls using acrylic paints.
Each owl was a little different in color and size. The hard part might be getting the large eyes just right. While she pondered the eyes, she added colored glitter to some of the tummies of the owls, just a touch of bling.
Since the dresser will be indoors, it is reserved for her mom, and her mom is not hard on things, she did not cover the acrylic paint. She did refinish the top of the dresser with dark wood stain and polyurethane.
What a cheerful group of owls, but she was still pondering what to do with the eyes.
So far so good. It was really coming together.
Then she hit upon the perfect solution, googly eyes for her large eyed owls.
Michelle's mom loves the dresser. It is quite colorful and cheerful. Who doesn't love owls? Perfect Michelle, I love it too! Did you notice she added the paint to the feet at the bottom below the dark wood rim around the bottom?
