Plant some mint in your flower bed. Rodents hate the smell of mint, and, cute as they are, squirrels are still Rodents!
I have this issue recently at my apartment with squirrels getting into my pots on my porch and pulling out the bulbs. You know for it being squirrel Appreciation Day I really don't appreciate their destruction haha anyway, I used orange peels, cayenne pepper, and some of my own hair for my hairbrush haha sounds silly but they haven't been back to Pastor my plants

Get a bag of blood meal from the nursery, spread through garden. The squirrels don't like blood smell at all and it also is a mild fertilizer especially for bulbs
