I would like some container garden ideas.

what have you planted in the past?How big are the containers?

I don't know what it is you are tired of, or what kind of climate you are in, but succulents are very popular in Central California these days. There are many different kinds, but you might like the ones that grow more slowly to keep your containers from overgrowing.

I don't know where you live but in Ohio we use a lot of geraniums ,wave petunias spikes for height in the center and either vinca vine or sweet potato vine so many color options using these flowers.

I use hostages come back each year .purple fountain grass is pretty but will not come back .home depot sells a lot of nice plants .keep receipt they will take back .

Annuals such as geraniums, impatiens, dahlia etc.
