My poor desk chair finally fell apart last week and I really needed something to replace it immediately! No money to buy a new chair but still need a seat. Guess I will make one!
This is what I made...
I started with the wood ends of a spool. I have several round pieces in my DIY pile.
I used a very soft greenish blue upholstery fabric and black pom pom trim
I cut out two circles of 2" foam, then laid that on top of the fabric and slowly cut a bigger circle around the wood circle and padding. Once I stapled the fabric to the wood I went to build the frame for the legs.
I used two wood circles. This one I painted black but only around the edges. You won't see the other part when I'm finished.
Next...
I cut the wood to be a square (4 small pieces) and pre drilled holes (the square fits within the wood circle). I took one long piece of 3" x 5" post cut it in 4 equal pieces for the legs. I then put the wood square on the circle I painted black. I added the posts to the corners and screwed everything into the pre drilled holes. I then flipped it all over and drilled in the legs for the top of the black circle. I painted with Unicorn SPiT in black and dry stroked in some green. Let that dry then added two coats of poly.
Next...
I then added the pom pom trim with some fabric glue. Flip the whole thing over and with 4 more screws drilled those into the top cushion.
Finished!!! YAY Now I have a seat and it is very study and soft!! Love all comments and questions!! Thanks for looking at my new stool!
A better pic I took this morning!
