Squirrels eating my newwseedlings in pots

What can I do to keep squirrels from eating my new seedlings I transplanted in pots off the ground. I don't have any fencing available to me

    sprinkle on cayenne or red pepper flakes in the area will not hurt plants but keeps critters away

    I was reading equal parts of dawn dish soap and hot sauce in a spray bottle will work for everything.

    Maybe you could put skewers in the ground around them so that the squirrels don't have room to get comfortable? I don't know if squirrels are capable of pulling the skewers out, but if you get inexpensive ones, it might be worth a try.

      Let me know how it works! I've battled squirrels before, but in a different way. I was living in the mountains, in a cabin with a metal roof. There was a pine tree right outside the corner where my bed was. At the crack of dawn the squirrels would toss down their pine cones for the day and most of them hit the roof right over my head! I had no need for an alarm clock! It was quiet in comparison anyway!
