Advice on type of shrubs

I need some advice on the type of shrubs I need to plant at the side of my house. I have nothing there now and had considered getting something like the Emerald Tree like shrubs. I have heard they are easy to die though. I need something to grow fairly tall maybe 12-15 foot. What is hardy ... can stand lots of sun and will look nice? This area is a focal point from the highway

You can check with your local Master Gardner group and ask what grows best in your area. Zones are a great starting point but your County information will give you even better solutions.
Emerald Arborvitae sounds perfect! You could also do Soft touch Holly or Wintercreeper shrubs, which are all perennial. Have fun!
