Fabric, a canvas type material. I've seen chairs and others fabric pieces painted so I thought painting them could be a solution. Maybe save having to take them down to replace.
If the awnings are metal I would use a brush on Rustoleum for metal. Very little prep and no prime required. If they are canvas a video is attached with how to instructions. Hope this helps
