I planted a honeycrisip apple tree at least 4years ago and try to trim it and spray it for bugs. It only produces 4-6 apples per year. Why? When can I expect plentiful produce?

Hi Tara. It takes 5-8 years for the tree to start producing fruit. You should start yielding 4-5 bushels.

I planted five different pear trees six years ago. This is the first year that they actually have taken hold and started to look like trees. First year I've pruned them too. Still no fruit but there were some blossoms.

A lot depends on the soil, rainfall, and amount of sun they get, of course. Here is a site with some advice:

A lot can depend upon what's nearby. My old neighbour used to say you should plant trees in pairs. After he died, new neighbours moved in & cut down their apple trees. Since then, my solitary apple tree's production has all but dried up & we used to get way too many apples every year without fail.

Do bees visit your yard? Some little busy bee must pollinate the flowers.
