I also have stainless steel pot I use for tea. You are right it quickly stains brown but shines right back when you use metal scrubbing or steel wool soap pad.
Here is a method to try:

I use 1 part bleach to 8 parts water for tea and coffee stains. Coffee pot cleaner the kind for percolators. Its called dipit. Might have to order on line. Also automatic diswasher detergent should work also. Sprinkle some in pot add hot water and let soak. Whatever you use wash throughly with hot soapy water and rinse with vinegar and rinse again.

Your question brings back a memory for me! Years ago I was living in a town where the tap water was heavily chlorinated. It was bad to drink, bad for the skin, just plain smelly. When I moved to a town that didn't chlorinate, it was such a relief, until the tea and coffee stains came along! So a little chlorine and/or a good scrubber will get it off.
hydrogen peroxide mixed with baking soda. any combination works.
