Coffee Table to Sunny Outdoor Patio Table

I love to add new decor and furnishings to my house. I often find ways to update my home with not much cash. One of my favorite projects is a sunny patio table that I created from an old coffee table that had once belonged to my parents.
I have a sentimental attachment to the table, as I remember the coffee table being in the living room in the first house that I grew up in. That sweet tiny brick ranch was always my favorite house!

The table sat in my current home's basement for years, but when I needed an additional table for a party I was hosting on my home's backyard patio, I found a purpose for the beloved but shabby looking piece of furniture!
Before painting the table, I simply cleaned the table with a wet rag. Once the surface was dry, I used milk paint to give the table a sunny yellow new finish. I followed with a coating of hemp oil to lend the table a waterproof finish. I love how my old but "new" table looks now. It's bright hue makes me smile and gives my patio a fun and brighter appearance. It's been three years since I've painted my table, and it still looks bright and sunny!
I'm so glad I found a place for my family's old table in my home. It looks great next to the plastic Adirondack chairs that I refinished with a bright coat of blue spray paint!

My question is mpre-about painting the chair... I have several white plastic chairs that have been outside through several winters and summers. They leave awhite powdery film on yourbutt after you sit in them-even after scrubbing them with a scrub sponge and soapy water and rinsing good with the hose. Do they have to be sealed with something before painting? What kind of paint would hold up well? Do they have to then be sealed with a top coat?

Hi -- for my plastic Adirondack chairs, all I did was clean the chairs first with soap and water. I then just sprayed them with Rustoleum spray paint that's suitable for outdoor projects and plastic. (Make sure it says plastic on the container.) I made sure the spray paint was completely dry before using the chairs. I spray painted my chairs three years ago and they still look like new! http://momhomeguide.com/spray-painted-outdoor-chairs/
