    Call your ins. Co.

  • Everything needs to be washed from top to bottom. Use vinegar when you can.

For a major amount of smoke on walls I suggest you call the pros in to clean because so much of it is embedded and difficult to remove. Their process also removes the smell. For small areas use a Heavy Duty Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (be prepared to go through a whole box), followed by Windex wipe.

You can do this, but it's a lot of work. Start by cleaning the walls. Then use an ozone machine and ozone the areas. The ozone needs to soak, so remove all people and animals, close up the room, turn ozone machine on high for a couple of hours. Then leave the room unopened for several hours. Open up and air out the room. Then paint the walls with Kilz primer and fresh paint. If any odor remains, repeat the ozone process.

Was this caused by a fire? Possibly your insurance company would pay for professional cleanup. If not, I'd try TSP with warm water. (Wear gloves.) Rinse with clean water mixed with fabric softener for a wonderful scent. I did this to remove a 30 yr buildup of cigarette smoke in a home. Worked great and smelled so much better when done. Best of luck.
