Hungry enough, they'll eat anything. The key is smell. Make a spray with water and spray your plants with cayenne pepper, chili peppers and other hot spices. And if you're feeding them move the feed location and perhaps plant some sacrificial plants in the new feed location. Good luck.
They will not eat Merragolds. I have found that Liquid Fence Deer and Rabbit Repellent works well to keep deer from eating flowers or trees. It smells bad but it works.
Petunias, Potentillas, marigolds.
