When we bring an animal into our homes, they quickly become part of the family. Such was the case with Cloe, the cat. We got her as a kitten for our daughter's 17th birthday and she was purr joy to have around!

We enjoyed Cloe's company for many years, but when she was 17, it became obvious that she was not well and not going to get better and we made the decision to have her euthanized.
About a week later, a sympathy card arrived from our vet. To my surprise and delight, they had enclosed Cloe's paw print and a snippet of her fur. I thought it was a very thoughtful gesture and I began to wonder how I could best save these tokens of our much-loved fur-friend.
I decided to make a framed memorial, using my favourite picture of Cloe as a kitten and a sentiment from the sympathy card, along with the remembrances sent. The frame is a matted 5 x 7-inch to accommodate the picture I had on hand.
After attaching the picture to the mat, I decided to tape the snippet of fur onto the top, left-hand side of the frame, leaving it in the little bag it came in to keep it neat. Then I just folded the rest of the plastic bag over the edge of the mat and taped it to the underside.
I then cut around the paw print so I was left with a square that fit in the top right-hand corner of the mat, glued it in place and finished by cutting out the sentiment from the card and gluing it to the bottom of the mat.
After inserting the mat into the frame, I now have a small pet memorial that will remind me of everything Cloe meant to our family every time I see it.icon
