Kill grass growing in ground cover

I have a very shady back yard with many bare areas. I had ground cover planted in them, as well as in an area that had some sparse grass. The man I hired chose not to pull out the grass in that area before putting in the ground cover. Now the grass is growing over the ground cover. Can't mow it because I want to keep the ground cover. Is there some treatment that will kill the grass only?

Yes; there are products that you can buy that will kill grass in a flower beds (and among your ground cover). Look for it at your local hardware store. If they don't have it see if they can order it for you. The Ortho company has one that I've used and there may be others. Good luck.
