Installing patio awning

I'm purchasing a patio awning and curious to know if anyone has done their own installation. If so, would you suggest I do it myself or have it professionally installed?

OMG! If you can afford to have professionally installed, save yourself the headache! My dad purchased a sun setter and his friend and I installed it one late summer day. From 8 am until 6 pm that is, and we still had to go back and work on it again a couple of days later. The installation kit didnt work and the awning actually fell down off the fascia. We ended up lag bolting it to the house with the bolts running through the wall and into dad’s kitchen. Then in order to secure it and get the support beam out of the way i had to drill holes in dad’s cement patio to screw in the footer pole support, that took about four hours to do properly.
