National building code is the riser should be no taller than 7-3/4 inches. The step should be no skinnier than 10 inches. These are comfortable measurements for anyone walking up and down.

For outdoor it's 6" riser x 12" thread. This is pretty comfortable to walk. Indoors is by code and it's steeper.
If you are very short or you have hip or back problems, keep the risers at 5”. ☺️
