Spray the urine with your garden hose as soon as it happens to dilute the ammonia in the pee.

I have friends who use lime to counteract the problem.

I heard giving the dog Ester C vitamin will counteract the stain but do not try this unless you get an OK from your vet.

I have had good results from putting a teaspoon of more of cider vinegar in water bowl (depending how large or small the water bowl is). Either that or my husband kept water in water in a jug or picture and would cover the grass every time our pet used it. You can also purchase a product at a pet store or from your vet.
