cayenne pepper and or shaved irish spring could help
I use both the cayenne pepper powder and shredded Irish Spring bar soap, so far so good, but Glads I planted are just starting to come up. I will have to see if it works for them, too! I had to take the screening off them as a couple were already tall enough to ben over. I don't want to lose all the work we put in making the new planter around the yard light or the 150 bulbs I planted!
I hope it does work for you. I had about two dozen tulips not come up this spring in part of my front garden. I know squirrels didn't dig them, there has never been a hole dug close to them and they usually don't go that deep. I only had two that I planted two years ago come up, maybe moles got them from below, or the weird winter we had with so little snow at first with really cold weather, but every other perennial came back this year except them.
It really was weird, I was worried that I would lose all my perennials with the lack of early snow and the really cold temps. If it wasn't for all the leaves I had piled on last fall, I probably would have lost everything.
Before they bloom, put chicken wire over the area, the flowers will grow through the openings and the critters will be blocked.
