Get some framing material from any place that sells building materials or a craft shop, plus a piece of board/plywood a bit larger than the mirror. Miter cut the corners of the frame, glue and nail together. If the mirror is already mounted on a wall, the framing material can be fastened to the wall. Measure carefully and you will have a nice looking mirror.
First protect the back of it with a piece of foam core or at worst cardboard. I had a frame shop in Santa Monica for 8 years. Cardboard can attract bugs if you are not careful. However, once protected, place into a frame with enough depth in the rabbit to accept the mirror and board thickness. Use either a point pusher gun or points that can be pushed into the wood with a screwdriver. Add eye hooks and appropriate wire and hang.
Tack (using brads) trim around the outside. This is lighter and you don't even have to take the mirror down. Just put 4 sides on and make sure the ends meet or join together as well as possible. If there is a slight gap at that point you can use caulking to smooth it out. Then paint. It is sort of like framing a picture.
Buy some white moulding and cut to fit around outside of mirror.
