Is it too late to trans plant asparagus?

I have 2 patches & would like to trans plant some,to get rid of one patch.It is producing asparagus now. We live in SW Ont.

You want to move your plants whilst they are dormant ideally in the spring just as or before the soil starts to warm and before the spears start to shoot.
