I still wouldn't take a chance, since there are usually other chemicals with it. I would definitely avoid one with a pattern since the dyes/inks could be toxic as well. I would be concerned about the chemicals being absorbed into the food.
Cut out your pattern ie a circle the size of top of bowl then place this on a doubled curtain cutting two at once. Make a channel around the circle of fabric then insert a piece of elastic
