If you go to your local Pant centre and ask there they will point you in the right direction.........

is the shady area moist or dry; that will also make a difference; do you want summer color or perennials that stay green all year? A good local greenhouse/nursery can advise as well as your local Agricultural Agent ( every state/county has an office )
