Weekly Challenge: Crochet Washcloths

Here's the first post in my new feature, "Weekly Challenge." My challenge can be anything from eating healthy to taking more photographs. I'm excited to start this week with a simple and practical challenge: in the next week, I want to crochet 10 washcloths for use in my kitchen.
The pattern for these is simple and spontaneous:

Chain however many stitches you want.

Then double crochet (as tight as you can) across the chains.

At the end of each row, chain 3 stitches to create the edging.

Then double crochet the next row.

Continue for however many rows you want.

Stop crocheting and tie off the end.
It's easy, mindless work and great for practicing. No counting stitches involved, except for the three chains at the end of your row. This is also a great way to get rid of small balls of yarn that are too little for any other project, or for using up colors you don't love anymore. I have a few small skeins of multicolored yarn that I don't really like for anything else, so I will be using those.

The only catch is this: I recommend 100% cotton yarn. It works better in soapy water than acrylic. I've been using a size J hook but you can really use whatever you have on hand. I told you, it's spontaneous.
What will your weekly challenge be? Will you join me in my crochet mini-marathon or will you do something entirely different? Leave me a comment below or send me a tweet @meganpoletti. Let's accomplish something together.

I have made these forever. Once you start using these dish clothes you won't want any other. I use a G or H hook and make pot holders. They need to be tighter and doubled over. So you put as many chains on as u want, put on as many rows as you would like for how ever big u want the pot holder. When finished, double over and single crochet around the ends to connect the 2 1/2'a together. Ur done.
