Turn Closet Into Mini Office

We turned out front closet into a mini office complete with a standing desk and rolling mail storage cart! This front closet was too narrow to even hang coats in. When we noticed an electrical outlet in the closet, we decided to turn it into a functional office space for our small home. Since our home is on the smaller side, we don't have a dedicated office space. But this little space was designed to be efficient, and it definitely is!
Here is the closet before we remodeled it. We took out a short shelf and row of hooks, then repaired the wall with spakling. This closet is 32 inches wide by 14 inches deep...tiny! After repairing and sanding the walls, we painted the closet a nice, cool teal color.
We added shelving to the left side of the closet on top of a prefinished shelving board that serves as the desk countertop.
We also built our own rolling cart to maximize the under desk space. We used prefinished shelving and added coasters and a handle. You can read more about that project here: [https://mysweetlilac.com/diy-storage-cart/].
Ta-da!! Here's the finished mini office. This closet had no dedicated light, so we added battery powered push lights to the bottom of a floating shelf.

The nice thing about this office space? We can just close the door when it's not in use! We are looking forward to using this as a homework spot as our kids get older. For now, it is used to sort mail and work on our computers.
