Make a box with a lid (could be hinged) and fix legs or feet to it then upholster the top or tie on a cushion........
I have done this. Build a box from plywood according to your specified measurements. One piece of plywood for the (removable) top, with a smaller piece (1" less for each side). Screw this piece to the top piece with even margins on all sides. Sand all corners and edges to just round them off a bit. Cover the sides of the box with some kind of padding... maybe an old bed pad or blanket (thrift stores are a good source). Lightly glue to keep in place. Then cover with fabric of your choice using a staple gun. For the top, glue a piece of polyurethane foam (thick enough to be comfy for feet or bum), then your chosen fabric. Wrap the fabric around all the edges, pull tight and staple. I took pics but do not know how to put them here, sorry.
