Where should I plant Rose of Sharon plants? Full sun, shade, etc...

I have a nice wrap around deck in the background . Thought of putting them there near the deck but full sun or near the privacy fence, which is partial sun/partial shade. Help! icon Thank you😊

I have a ton of these in my yard, as they self-sow when the pods drop. I try to collect the pods in Fall to share or toss on the bank of our creek. Mine are all in the full sun, but they do fine in partial sun, too. I love these plants because you can keep them trimmed to the size you want, or allow them to grow into nice, small trees along a property line. They flower profusely, but they are slowpokes, leafing out after other trees do and flowering in mid to late summer. I think they're worth the wait. If you want to keep them as a bush, trim in Fall, and don't be afraid to cut them back hard.

I have two, one in the back with full sun and one in the front with shade. Both have done very well although I think the one in the front was not as thick as the back. They do need room to grow sideways and a few feet up, say 5-7 feet-ish. I prune the one in back each year to about four feet and it grows back beautifully. The one in front is sparse comparatively but may be because it was a different color so maybe a different type. Hope this helps
