Does my house need rewiring?

Most of the electrical appliances at my home are getting damaged easily. The refrigerator and oven are damaged. Now, the television too. I don't know why this happens most of the time. One of my friends from Toronto is an electrician. I am afraid whether all of the electrical devices get damaged. I don't know the reason behind this. I don't know whether it might lead to any other electrical issues at my home. One of my friends said that it might be because of the power surge. Is it because of a power surge? I think it would be better if I install a power surge protector from Toronto. Is there any other reason for the damage of electrical devices? Do I need to get my home rewired?

If one of your friends is an electrician have you asked him? He should be able to give you a more educated answer then a lay person.

you may be getting power surges from your supplier ,but only an electrician can answer this . Your electrical system should be checked every year by a fully qualified electrician who issues you with a safety certificate ,this is a very handy bit of paper for your insurance company and you if any of your home equiptment goes tits up.

Does the electricity in your home have an old style fuse box, or a newer panel with breaker switches?

You did not specify what exactly you mean by 'damaged' appliances. Do they still function properly?

It could be that the fuses in your fuse box are not powerful enough to run the appliances, and other modern demands in the house for electricity. Or it could be that you need your system upgraded with a new panel box.

From a safety standpoint, I agree with others who have said consult with a qualified electrician.
