These hand painted easy, custom ceramic planters are incredibly easy to make. Simply paint, cure and bake and you have a unique, one of a kind vase for your home!
I love that we finally have some warm weather to enjoy! However some days it seems like we transitioned from winter straight into summer. We've had a few weeks with highs in the 90s already.

I can't deal with the heat when the temperatures are crazy high. Especially not if it's compounded with humidity. So my roommate and I took the opportunity to stay indoors instead and work on craft projects.

While we can window shop for great new planters for our home, we are both a tight budget. So we haven't been able to splurge on home decorating pieces or bright new planters.

Instead we raided both of our craft stashes. I had several ceramic planters I'd purchased from Target the previous year, while Bambi had a stash of porcelain paints in her craft arsenal.

(Be sure to check out more of my craft projects at Soap Deli News blog!)
We had two styles of ceramic planters that we worked with. Bambi painted this textured planter using the shapes to paint geometric blocks of different color.
On a second planter Bambi painted each side a different color. She then painted individual designs in each pentagon shape.
For my ceramic planter I applied a messy blocks of color in shades of red, yellow, orange and brown.
There were no defined edges to my painting. I let each new layer of color I added within the diamond shapes of my planter overlap with the ones around it.
Once the paint on our hand painted custom ceramic planters cured for 24 hours, we then baked them in oven at 300 °F for 35 minutes. This gave our custom ceramic planters an enamel finish that is dishwasher, UV and microwave resistant.
After letting our ceramic planters cool and removing them from the oven, I added gold accents to my custom ceramic planter with a gold paint pen.
All that was left was to add some soil and my favorite plant!
Or you can use these your hand painted custom ceramic planters to store items in your home. This planter was perfect for our markers!

You can expect to pay $4-$5 per ceramic planter in store. A set of 6 Porcelaine 150 paints runs around $17 at Dick Blick stores. So we were able to make three hand painted custom vases for around $10 each.
