From Wine Box to Footstool

I found a great wine box and wanted to do something with it and as I was rummaging around in my shop saw 4 legs that would look great on it.
I stained them all a medium colored stain. I didn’t want to take away from the stamped logo!
To attach the legs, I predrilled down from the inside of the box and used a washer to help make it more secure.
Next, I had a old bread board that I used for the top of the footstool. I also had some left over 4 “ foam that I used as a cushion and stapled away this adorable fabric that I got from Walmart last year.
When I cover something, I work on opposite sides to make sure the material is taunt. So i staple on one side and for my next staple I go to the opposite side pulling the material taunt. I worked on 2 sides at a time then I went to the shorter ends and did the same thing.
I kept turnping over the cushion to make sure the material is straight and not crooked on the top when I first started out. This particular material has lines so it was easy to make sure it looked ok.
To get the material into the corners I used a ruler to gently move the material flat. I wrapped it like you do wrapping paper on a gift. Not sure if this is the correct way but it worked for me!
I cut off excess material to help it lay flatter.
Here it is done.
Then, I attached the top to the base using 2 hinges.
I thought It might be nice to have the top be able to stay open as you got something out of it so I added a hinge.
These are the screws I used from Harbor Freight to assemble most everything.
Here is the finished stool. I noticed it looks like the fabric is a little loose on the end so I went and pulled it tighter after this pix! Hope you like it!
