DIY Lavender Sachets

Personally I think this makes a perfect mother's day gift but being that we're so close to mama's day I'm not sure you'll have time to dry the lavender before Sunday. Guys, I'm so happy you're here because today I'm sharing how to make your own Lavender sachets. These are great to have around in any room, closet or drawer and have everything smelling so good!!!
I may be sharing this one a little late for Mother's Day, but its also a pretty and personal gift for any occasion such as a girl friend's birthday, a baby shower, or a bridal shower.
These were easy to make so I hope you find these easy enough to make them yourselves.  I only spent $5 for the mini canvas drawstring bags at my local Michael's.
First thing you want to do is either cut your own or buy a bouquet of lavender or dry lavender from your local market or craft store.  I simply walked to my front yard and cut some sweet lavender flowers.  You can eyeball it like me.  My bunch made about 1/2 a cup of dried up lavender.
After I dried my flowers.  I simply slipped them off of their stems.  Don't they look pretty already?

So that's just your first step, making sure you have the dried lavender to move on to making your mini canvas drawstring bags pretty.

This is the second best part of this DIY.  IF you want to get creative and personalize your sachets, especially if they're going to be a gift for mom or a friend.  You want to make sure you have some fresh flowers of any kind or remember to keep a fresh stem or two of Lavender for this part.

Don't mind my "pretty hammer" its been put through some good use.

You're going to be hammering the imprint of your flower stem onto the mini canvas bag.  You can hammer straight over the flower onto the bag or place another mini bag over to keep the flower in between both and you'll get two canvas bag imprints done at the same time.

Below is how they'll turn out with the lavender imprint.  For some reason the purple of the lavender doesn't transfer in purple but instead more of a brown.  So you'll have to improvise.
In this case, I could have used fabric paint.  Unfortunately I did not have some around and since I won't be washing my sachets I didn't feel it was necessary.  Plus spending more money shouldn't be necessary if you explore your options.  I always have acrylic paints around from previous projects or the kids school projects.

I pulled my red and blue acrylic paints and combined them to make purple.
I grabbed a small brush (because you should have those around too if you DIY a lot like me) and I played around with the pattern already transferred onto the mini canvas bags.  I simply enhanced the lavender flowers to stand out.

Use the flower as your guide.

Once I had both the dried lavender and my mini drawstring bags ready to go.  It was time to add 2 drops of lavender oil to my dried lavender.  The dried lavender itself smelled amazing already, but I wanted to enhance it and make sure it lasts longer since these sachets will be placed in my dresser drawers.
Head over to the blog for the rest of instructions of this post. These turned out beautiful and smell amazing!!
