Save on Potting Soil and Recycle Plastic Bottles at the Same Time.

It seems that most flower pots are 'way too deep for the average plant. Place a couple plastic drink bottles in the bottom of the pot before adding potting soil. This will also save you on potting soil.
Plant as you "normally" would. The bottles not only provide additional drainage and save costs on planting soil, the pots aren't as heavy because you aren't using as much dirt.
Once you empty the plastic bag the soil came in, cover problem weed areas with it to deter the weeds. Simply toss some dirt over the bag and plant whatever you want where those pesky weeds once resided.
Suggested materials:
  • Discarded plastic drink bottles   (Not out of the trash!)
  • Bagged potting soil   (Anywhere that sells plants)
