What can we do to make our CREAM painted walls look better?

We live in elderly housing where all the walls in every room are painted CREAM. We are not allowed to add anything that would permanently change the walls. No paint of any kind. Any suggestions?

  • Use command hooks to hang any art or decorative items. Also comes in handy in bathrooms and kitchens for everyday items you may want handy.

Purchase some beautiful material, add some removeable adhesive like a Scotch brand hanging system so you don't poke holes in the walls. Or you could purchase a bamboo wall screen and set it against the wall and hang your decorations on it.

See if you can find a picture, or pictures, with an oak color frame. Try a picture that is bright with many colors. Ex. a beach scene with a sailboat that has it's mast different colors. If you get ones that are busy (lots of objects) this will direct the eye to the painting. If you get 4, 8x10 inch or 4 6x8 and hang them so they are in a large area, you can change the pattern in which you hang them.

  • People used to starch fabric and hang it like wallpaper in this situation! I have used the stick and peel wallpaper but so far haven't removed it!

Large art work of a subject that pleases. Without frames is fine for canvas pieces. Hobby Lobby often has on sale. A mirror to reflect light and color of the art will lighten the space. Choose contrasting frame colors not more cream/beige. Hope this helps
