    Hi Sharon,

There are several ways to get black marker marks of countertops, but please test anything you try in an area that won't show because it's quartz. My favorite way is to use hair spray then blot up anything that was removed. If you can't get it all, try with some white toothpaste (not gel). I found a "tutorial" online where you can read exactly how to do it. Wishing you the best.

My son got a ton of black permanent marker on my brand new white quartz counter. We tried several different things and nothing was working. My husband had an idea of what they do at work and believe it or not it TOTALLY worked and took all the marker out. It was Cutter bug spray. Yes BUG SPRAY. sprayed it on there rubbed in with a manic eraser and took it right off. Wiped with a wet rag and cant tell at all. The eraser wouldn't take it all out by itself. The bug spray worked wonders. Unbelievable!

Quartz countertops can endure low-acidic cleansers like the following: Wine, Vinegar, Lemon Juice

When using lemon juice, add some salt and turn it into a paste rather than pouring the extract directly. This method is effective for countertops with lighter colours such as white and grey.

Rubbing alcohol or hair spray should take it right out, do a test area first.

  • You could try Goo Gone, hairspray, toothpaste, or lemon juice with salt. Most definitely test first in a small unseen spot to avoid damage.

  • Hi Sharon! For removing permanent marker, Bar Keeper's friend and a sponge work well to remove stains without damaging the finish. Food coloring stains can be tougher. Small amounts of Bar Keeper's friend or rubbing alcohol and the scrubby side of a non-scratch kitchen sponge can lighten food dye stains.
